1. Ensure wall penetration is correct size. Penetration size for this type of installation should only be 10mm larger than width and height dimension. As per AS1530 Test No. FSV0538.

2.
Remove flange screws and detach flanges from casing.

3.
Apply a 20mmx 6mm bead of fire rated mastic to base of penetration. Apply a 6mm bead of fire rated mastic to both edge faces of plasterboard surface (see illustration).

4. Slide damper into penetration and apply a 5mm bead of fire rated mastic into side gaps. Apply a 10mm x 5mm x 2 beads of fire rated mastic in gap above damper (see illustration) . Intumescent slats shall be in the VERTICAL position. 
NOTE: "AIRFLOW" direction is optional.

5. Replace flanges with a bead of fire rated mastic around penetration where angels seal against plasterboard. NOTE: Do not overtighen flange screws.

6. Connect ductwork to fire damper using fire rated mastic to fill recess if using raw edge connection, or apply mastic to both surfaces of the TDF flange connections. (Bolts must be of a low melting point material.)

 

 



All fire dampers shall be accessible and maintained in accordance with AS1851.Part6
