1. Ensure wall penetration is correct size. Opening should be 10mm larger than nominal size in both width and height. Example: 400 x 200 damper requires and opening 410 x 210 (see illustration).

2.
Remove flange screws and detach flanges from casing.

3.
Apply a bead of fire rated mastic to base of penetration and around the penetration where fixed or bolt up angles seal against fire rated plasterboard.

4. Slide damper into wall penetration and locate in centre of penetration. Intumescent slats shall be in the VERTICAL position. NOTE: "AIRFLOW" direction is optional.

5. Pack top of damper expansion gap with 2mm Nom. Dia. Fyreguard IBS rod and seal top and sides with fire rated mastic to a minimum of 5mm thick.

6. Replace flanges with a bead of fire rated mastic around penetration where angles seal against plasterboard.

7. Connect ductwork to fire damper using fire rated mastic to fill recess if using raw edge connection, or apply mastic to both surfaces of the TDF flange connections. (Bolts must be of a low melting point material.)
